The Abundance of Celebrating Other People’s Success

A short older reflection on why another person’s success does not have to diminish your own.

This is an older reflection, and I would say it more gently now.

One of the healthiest shifts I know is learning to celebrate other people’s success without feeling diminished by it.

George Lucas does not have to have a flop so Steven Spielberg can have a hit. Madonna’s album does not have to fail so Whitney Houston can succeed. Another person’s good fortune is not proof that life has run out of good fortune for you.

That is still the part of the old “prosperity mindset” idea that I find useful: celebrate what is working for others, learn from it, and keep building your own life with less jealousy and more trust.
